We are thrilled to introduce Mike Ramirez as the newest member of our leadership team, and President of Orka Automation. Mike is a big-picture guy with a passion for helping businesses, people, and communities improve and grow. (He also runs a fast 5K!)
We did a quick question-and-answer with Mike to get to know him better. Here is some of what we learned…
Tell us a little bit about you, where you came from, and some early work history.
I was born and raised in Sacramento, California. Studied Business Administration and Economics at Saint Mary’s College of California. First job – selling wine for Gallo in the California Bay Area and Sacramento. Most recent employer – Herman Miller. Favorite job / role – coaching baseball.
What are you most excited about with this latest business venture?
I am most excited about being part of a relatively new business that has a great team in place, a strong business foundation, and is in a field of massive growth potential.
In addition, I’m also drawn to creating a company that treats customers like partners. At Orka, success will not be defined by the number of robots or conveyor systems that we sell. Success is determined when we help our customers achieve their business objectives.
Tell us what you are passionate about.
I have a strong passion for the active role businesses can, and should, play in the socioeconomic health of our communities. As a business owner, I believe that my responsibility extends beyond just employment. Business leaders cannot be passive or leave it to others to ensure the health and wellbeing of our communities. We should be leading the creation of innovative solutions designed to enhance the wellbeing of communities, not supporting from afar.
From a personal perspective – Living life to the fullest every day.
Who inspires you and why?
Many people have inspired me over the years; however, I think the biggest influence was my parents. They taught me the value of hard work, discipline, and never giving up, no matter the odds. They taught me to lead with kindness but be tough when needed. That every person is important and has a gift to share if you take the time to listen. They taught me why it is so important for all of us to take care of each other. They taught me to enjoy life, but never to take anything for granted.

I’m on the beach in Siesta Key with a great glass of red wine in my hand, watching the sun go down.
With the relaunch of Orka Automation, we’re looking forward to getting to know Mike and the team better, as well as sharing some of what we see happening in the manufacturing and automation world, and some of the creative solutions we’re bringing to customers.
